   The Cherokee Red Star Intertribal Gourd Dance Society of Blue Spring will have their annual  Ancestors Gourd Dance and Pow Wow  (to include a straight dance contest) on September 26 and 27, 2008 at the Blue Spring Heritage Center, Euerka Springs, Arkansas. For more information

           Red Star Member Memorial

 

Major Walter W. (Bill) Stogsdill, U. S.Army (Ret),died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on September 25th 2007. Major Stogsdill ,Delaware/Cherokee, was a member of the Cherokee Red Star Gourd Dance Society, of Eureka Springs, Ark., and the Lenape' Gourd Dance Society of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was an accomplished Straight Dancer. Bill was born August 11th, 1950 in Baxter Springs, Kansas, the son of William and Phyllis "Two Horses" Stogsdill. He was 57 years old. The Societies and many in Indian Country mourn his passing. The Family and the Cherokee Red Star will be sponsoring a Memorial Straight Dance contest, at their Pow Wow, September 27th 2008 Eureka Springs,Arkansas. as a memorial. He will be missed.
